Learn how to create, edit, and organize your events in Purr Diem
Creating Your First Event
Events are the foundation of Purr Diem. Each event represents a conference, trip, or any occasion where you need to track expenses.
Step 1: Create a New Event
- Open Purr Diem
- Tap the + button in the top right corner
- Select "New Event"
Step 2: Fill in Event Details
- Event Name - Give your event a descriptive name (e.g., "Tech Conference 2026")
- Start Date - When does your event begin?
- End Date - When does it end?
- Category - Choose from Business, Personal, Travel, Conference, or create custom categories
- Budget - How much do you plan to spend?
💡 Tip: You can create events in advance! Add upcoming trips or conferences now to start planning your budget.
Step 3: Save Your Event
Tap Save in the top right corner. Your event will appear in the Events list.
Editing Events
Need to update event details? Here's how:
- Open the Events list
- Tap the event you want to edit
- Tap Edit in the top right corner
- Make your changes
- Tap Save
⚠️ Note: Changing the event dates will recalculate per diem amounts if you have daily per diems set up.
Deleting Events
To delete an event and all its expenses:
Method 1: Swipe to Delete
- In the Events list, swipe left on the event
- Tap the red Delete button
- Confirm deletion
Method 2: Delete from Event Detail
- Open the event
- Tap Edit
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Event
- Confirm deletion
⚠️ Important: Deleting an event will also delete all expenses associated with it. This action cannot be undone!
Event Categories
Categories help you organize events and see spending patterns across different types of activities.
Built-in Categories
- Business - Work conferences, meetings, client dinners
- Personal - Vacations, hobbies, personal projects
- Travel - Trips, tours, weekend getaways
- Conference - Industry events, seminars, workshops
- Other - Anything that doesn't fit above
💡 Premium Tip: With Premium, you can view total spending by category across all events in the Analytics tab.
Budget Tracking
Each event has a budget that tracks your spending in real-time.
Understanding Your Budget
When viewing an event, you'll see:
- Total Budget - The amount you planned to spend
- Total Spent - Sum of all expenses for this event
- Remaining - How much budget is left (can be negative if over budget)
Budget Indicators
- ● Green - Under budget
- ● Orange - Within 10% of budget
- ● Red - Over budget
💡 Tip: Set your budget slightly lower than your actual limit to give yourself a buffer!
Filtering and Searching Events
Search for Events
- Tap the search bar at the top of the Events list
- Type the event name or category
- Results filter in real-time
Filter by Date
- Upcoming - Events that haven't started yet
- Current - Events happening now
- Past - Completed events
- All - Show everything
